Special occasion coming up, or just looking for a boost?
This unique facial helps your skin to look younger, healthier and more radiant naturally. By increasing collagen production and improving the circulation of blood and lymph in the face, acupuncture functions to rejuvenate and to deeply nourish skin and muscles, leading to a healthier appearance and to healthier skin.
A Cosmetic Acupuncture Facial is a truly beneficial treatment that not only reduces the signs of ageing but also improves skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and facial eczema. More than a cosmetic treatment, it is a thoroughly relaxing, holistic therapy which helps to bring optimum health to your face and to the rest of your body. With cosmetic acupuncture, everything from puffy eyes to deep wrinkles to sagging skin can be effectively treated, and with regular facials, issues like these and others can be significantly improved or alleviated altogether.
Below are some of the benefits a Cosmetic Acupuncture Facial can offer:
- improves facial muscle tone
- diminishes fine lines
- reduces deeper wrinkles (around the eyes, forehead, mouth/lip, frown lines)
- naturally brightens the eyes
- improves facial colour and complexion
- lifts drooping eyelids
- reduces jowls
- improves skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and facial eczema
- diminishes puffiness or dark circles under the eyes
- increases collagen production
- improves circulation of blood and lymph in the skin and muscles
- reduces signs of stress evident in the face
- brings out the skin’s natural radiance
It is said that the state of our health can be seen in our complexion and in our eyes. If the body’s systems are in balance, the face’s appearance reflects this, and if they are not, the face’s appearance reflects this as well. When we get dark circles under the eyes, for example, this indicates, from a Chinese medicine perspective, an imbalance in the kidneys. Such an imbalance can also cause other symptoms such as lower backache, tiredness, or dizziness. Since acupuncture addresses the underlying imbalances present in the body, each Cosmetic Acupuncture Facial helps not only to correct the imbalances apparent in the face but also the symptoms associated with the imbalances in the body. So in the end, as you lie there, enjoying your relaxing facial, both the health of your face and the health of your body are improving.
Cosmetic acupuncture can also help improve our states of mind. When our minds are affected by stress, for example, stress can appear in the face. The eyes can lose their luster. The skin can become dull. The facial muscles can seem flat, like they are stuck in a grimace. Cosmetic acupuncture can address these issues, brightening the eyes, rejuvenating facial muscles, and improving the complexion. It can also benefit the mind, helping it to be more balanced and clear. With a more relaxed and lucid mind, stress then seems more manageable and when stress is resolved from the inside, it is soon reflected in the face on the outside.
With skin conditions like acne, rosacea, facial eczema, a Cosmetic Acupuncture Facial can also be of great benefit. Skin conditions such as these involve systemic imbalances that not only affect the skin on the face (and other areas) but that also affect the body as a whole with possible accompanying symptoms such as sinus problems, anxiety, or menstrual issues (all of which improve with treatment). Because acupuncture addresses the underlying imbalances, it is one of the most effective means of treating almost any skin condition. With each facial, the body’s systems come more and more into balance, and the roots of these conditions begin to heal, leading to a progressive improvement in symptoms. Then generally within six to twelve treatments, the skin condition is either remedied completely or is brought under control so it can be easily managed.

What will the Facial be like?
It begins with a gentle exfoliating cleanse, using a Bamboo Micro Polish which leaves the skin smoother, clearer, and more supple. This is followed by the most potent part of the facial, the Cosmetic Acupuncture. Just lay back and relax while your face is deeply energised and brought to a state of healthy balance. And finally, to complete the treatment, enjoy a 15-minute facial massage which incorporates techniques from both Indian and Japanese styles of face massage. These techniques are renowned for their regenerative qualities and can help to deeply relax facial muscles and to gently stimulate the skin.
Some of the effects from the facial are visible almost immediately, while others become more apparent over time, as the skin goes through its process of rejuvenation.
The price of a Cosmetic Acupuncture Facial is £75, and it lasts approximately 80 minutes.
How It Works
Due to the natural process of ageing and to certain lifestyle choices, imbalances are generated in both the face and the body. Cosmetic Acupuncture functions to regulate these imbalances, bringing about improvement in the facial appearance as well as in the overall health of the body. This is done by inserting very fine needles into specific points on the face and body. Stimulating these points promotes the movement nutrients, blood, and other important fluids to the skin and muscles, nourishing them and rejuvenating them.
When addressing specific issues such as deep wrinkles, scars, or skin discolouration, particular needling protocols are used, wherein those specific areas are directly treated. In the case of deep wrinkles, tiny needles (called intra-dermal needles) are inserted along the line of the wrinkles. These needles create tiny dermal injuries, which trigger the normal healing response within the skin, a process that naturally introduces new collagen and elastin into the wrinkle. As new collagen builds with each facial, the wrinkles diminish both in size and depth, and the skin becomes smoother and more supple.
All needles are sterile single-use needles, and the Medik8 skin products used during the facial are professional-grade and of the highest quality.
* Directly following the treatment, there will be no redness or discolouration. However, very occasionally, there may be some very minor bruising. These bruises will not be painful and should quickly fade.
