Safe and Effective Treatment for Immediate and Lasting Pain Relief
Upper and Lower Back Pain
Acute or Chronic Back Pain
Proven as an effective means of treating all kinds of pain, acupuncture can be a safe and natural alternative or addition to Western medical treatment. It can reduce both pain and swelling and is successful in treating pain no matter where it is in the body and whether it is acute or chronic, severe or dull. If you have an old injury that never properly healed, a new injury, a recent surgery, joint pain or muscle tension, acupuncture can help. It increases the circulation of blood and other important fluids, bringing nutrients and oxygen to the area of pain or tension, stimulates nerve activity, and relaxes muscles and tendons, all leading to a reduction in both pain and inflammation.
What to Expect from Acupuncture Treatment
Acupuncture treatment has immediate effect, so if you arrive with pain, you leave with either noticeably less pain or no pain at all. With each treatment, the pain, discomfort or stiffness reduces, and within a few treatments should be alleviated altogether with long-lasting and often permanent results.

Back Pain Treatment
Back pain is the most commonly reported pain condition in the world. Lower back pain is so common that about 8 in 10 people have one or more bouts of it in a lifetime. As well since the back is the core of the body, when it is in pain, it is hard to escape it, sometimes affecting us with nearly every move we make including in our sleep. Because of this, it is important that a reliable treatment method be available that can effectively reduce back pain immediately and provide lasting results. This method is acupuncture.
Back pain has different causes, herniated disc, muscle strain, muscle injury, pinched nerve, osteoporosis. With all of these issues, acupuncture can help. In most cases of back pain, whether it be upper, middle or lower back pain, chronic back pain or acute, the pain can be quickly reduced and generally eliminated within 2 – 8 treatments, the first treatment often producing at least a 50% reduction in pain.
Acupuncture can also be very effective in the treatment of a stiff back. Lack of flexibility in the back can inhibit important movements like bending down, squatting, lifting, etc. For this reason, a stiff back can impact quality of life. Acupuncture can help to improve flexibility in the back, making it more supple with each treatment. To determine the amount of treatment needed would depend on the degree of stiffness, but generally within 4 – 8 treatments good function and flexibility are achieved.
Sciatica and Leg Pain Treatment
Even nerve conditions like sciatica involving numbness or nerve pain can be successfully treated with acupuncture, often improving sciatic pain quite significantly (50% or more) in just one treatment and then generally relieving it completely within 4 – 6 treatments.
Sciatic pain has a specific route of travel. It generally starts in the lower back and then travels down through the glutes or sacrum and into the back of the thigh, sometimes reaching the back of the knee. It can also go further, travelling down the back of the calf to the outside of ankle, along the side of the foot and to the little toe. As sciatica usually involves both back and leg pain, when sciatica is treated, the areas of pain are identified and all are treated simultaneously, so no need to worry that one area will be healing and feeling better while others not.
With leg pain, there can also be pain in the various parts of the leg, like hamstring pain, thigh pain, calf pain and shin pain. All of these benefit from acupuncture and can generally be resolved within 1 – 8 treatments.
Efficacy of Acupuncture for Pain Relief
Currently, a significant body of evidence is being amassed on the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of pain. In countries around the world, large, rigorously designed clinical trials are being carried out and positive conclusions are being drawn. In one of these trials, clinically significant data showed that acupuncture and electroacupuncture were effective in the treatment of Lower Back Pain.
Listed on the NLM website (National Library of Medicine), the primary medical resource of the United States government, are reports from other trials evaluating acupuncture’s effect on Sciatica and Osteoarthritis.
